Are you ready for a Frenchie who is just about as sweet as they come? A people pleaser, a cuddle bug and a quirky cutie pie? That's our little Jojo with the under bite and shiny lip, and she is finally ready to find the perfect forever home!

Jojo is a friendly yet submissive former breeder girl who spent pretty much all of her first 5 years around other dogs in a breeding environment, but is now spayed and eager to explore life as a cherished pet. Because of her history, she is shy at first with people, but warms up after some affection and reassurance. Jojo is an easygoing gal who just wants a soft place to rest her head, some yummy grain-free food and treats, and of course a few toys. What Frenchie doesn’t? She is usually content to follow the pack around, and is very happy to be included and part of the group; whatever you're doing, Jojo is happy to do it too! A few of her favorite pastimes include chewing on one of her many bones and chewies, pouncing on her stuffy toys and throwing them in the air, and lounging on the balcony of her foster home while being nosey and peeping at the neighbors! She truly loves to be near her people, and is always ready for an ear or belly rub.

While in foster care, Jojo has been given a tune-up from top to bottom! She has had her Pallet altered, to go along with her Nares which were done before coming into SMRS' care, and is breathing much easier these days. However, she still does get winded, so outdoor activity must be supervised strongly in her forever home.

She has a wonky little walk and a slight head tremor as well as the inability to turn her neck completely -- her hoot owl impersonation is definitely lacking, but still coming along nicely. She has been evaluated by our vet, and at this time, we find no signs of any sort of neurological issues that would point to why she walks the way she does. Her forever family must be committed to closely monitoring her mobility throughout her life and taking any necessary steps that may be needed to have her evaluated further with a neurologist. She is not currently able to jump up or down off any furniture and does not understand the concept of stairs. It is imperative for her continued spinal health that her forever family never allow her to do these things; if you choose to allow her on the furniture (which she would love!!), she will need help up and down, and if she ever needs to travel up or down the stairs, you will have to carry her, no exceptions.

Jojo was allergy tested and has been found to have a very high allergy to dust mites. She is currently on an in-home allergy shot regime, which any potential applicant will have to be willing and able to continue as well as to continue to evaluate with their vet. Additionally, her forever family will have to be committed to keeping her, as well as her bedding, clean at all times; weekly to bi-weekly bathing for her, and weekly laundering of her linens in order to help keep her allergy sensitivities at bay.

Sweet Jojo is not completely housebroken yet, but she does just fine if she’s kept on a schedule of every 2-4 hour breaks. Because she was a breeder girl and most likely kept in a pen or crate of some sort during the beginning of her life, the concept of potty training has all been Greek to her! Luckily, she now knows outside is the appropriate place to go potty, however she’s not the best about signaling to go out. Potential applicants will need to be committed to continue working with her on her potty training, as well as accepting of the fact that she may never be bulletproof. For this reason, a forever home where someone is around most of the day (stay-at-home, work-from-home, retired people, etc.) or where Jojo would be allowed to accompany her person to work in the office, will be given first preference. However, if you are someone who works out of the home to bring home the bacon but still think you might be a good fit for Jojo, please note in your application how you will provide for her breaks throughout the day while you are gone -- a dog walker, doggie daycare, family members with overlapping or opposite schedules, etc.

While Jojo can be crated, it is definitely not something she enjoys...and who would if that's where you'd spent a lot of your time in a former life!

Jojo is incredibly happy when around other dogs, and enjoys the company of her Frenchie foster brother as well as her friends at the local dog park and Frenchie Meetup. Because of her former lifestyle and her need for reassurance, we would like her forever family to consist of at least one other kind and gentle canine sibling for her to pal around with and share in friendly wrastling sessions!

One thing she will not be placed around is critters; small mammals or rodents, birds or reptiles of any kind, no exceptions. Jojo has a strong prey drive, and for the safety of any such smaller, defenseless beings, we simply will not consider homes where these are present. Additionally, Jojo is a cat chaser. While she has never grabbed or attacked a kitty, she has definitely been interested in chasing after those around her foster home who have ran from her. If you are an applicant with felines in the home (be they indoor or outdoor), please be ready to go into detail about their dog-savvyness as well as how you plan to make sure that they and Jojo can live in harmony.

Jojo has not had any experience around children under the age of 12 while in foster care. For that reason, coupled with her gentle spirit, if applicants with children apply, we will only consider homes with school age children or older who are respectful of animals and are capable of understanding that Jojo will need to be treated with consideration and love.

Jojo enjoys a good romp through the grass as well as walks well on a harness and leash, so applicants with any type of home will be considered; a house with a secured yard of her own where she can practice her hunting, or an apartment/condo with a nice balcony for sun bathing and people watching would be just fine for her.

Here's a word from her foster mom: "Jojo is the quirkiest, most endearing Frenchie I've ever had the privilege of getting to know! She looks at me with the sweetest, most hopeful yet guarded expressions, and it just melts my heart!! She is a gem of a family member and with the right fit, will thrive in her forever home. I am interested to see her find a home that will respect her for who she is, quirks and all, where she will be able to continue to grow and blossom into the cherished pet she was always meant to be. I will miss her funny barking sessions when I'm able to get her riled up if I don't pay enough attention to her when I first come home, as well as her funny burrowing around as she delights in getting to come up on the couch or bed."
