I would love you more than you can imagine.
Please welcome Winnie to SMRS. Winnie was surrendered to us from a local shelter. She has a sad story to tell. Winnie was in a car accident with her owner and the car caught on fire. She was trapped inside and got a lot of smoke inhalation. This gave her pneumonia. Upon the shelter doing x-rays to see the lung damage they discovered she had very large bladder stones. We picked her up and took her immediately to our vet to get a game plan together. She had the bladder stones removed this morning and she had 23 stones in total!!! At 6 years old you can imagine how long this issue was going on for stones to be that large. She also had a dental as her teeth were in bad shape and she lost a few. We are hoping this will provide her some much needed relief. The stones will be sent for testing and she will start a RX urinary diet going forward. Her lungs could have permanent damage from the smoke, but only time will tell. She is on high powered antibiotics in the meantime to combat any remaining infection. She will stay in the hospital for about a week to make sure the bladder incision heals properly. Once she is cleared she will get her vaccinations, microchip and heartworm prevention then head to her foster home.
