Joey came into rescue due to a divorce. He was not able to get the time and care he needed and his owner made the hard decision to find a home with better circumstances and more time for him. He loves attention and to be around people. Joey gets along with both male and female dogs. He does best with dogs his size and larger. He is very playful and would not be well suited for older dogs who do not like to play or smaller dogs. Joey does not live in a home with cats. He would most likely not be aggressive towards them, but the cat would need to be well versed and good with dogs in the home. ANOTHER ACTIVE DOG IS A MUST FOR JOEY.

Joey loves children. He does best with children over the age of 10. Joey does like to jump and can sometimes nip when giving kisses, because he gets so excited.

Joey needs a fenced yard. He is a very curious young dog, but he enjoys exploring the yard.

Joey has a grade 2 heart murmur that does not require medication, but it needs to be monitored. Joey has also been diagnosed with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). He will be on a specialized diet and lifelong medication due to IBD.

Joey has an loving gentle nature about him. He is playful and enjoys rough play with other dogs and chase, but he is submissive and does not start fights. But he is not a push over. If a dog engages with him in a fight, he will defend himself. He requires a lot of activity. He is always ready to play. He will gladly follow another dog, but can sometimes wear on older dogs as he can be annoying with the amount of playtime he wants. He eventually calms down and chews on a bone or naps if no one will play with him.

Joey is beautifully house trained and crate trained. He does not have accidents and is kept in the crate when his foster mom is not home. He is still a puppy and will chew on things sometimes. He knows basic commands and loves to learn.

Joey loves to play chase outside. He loves exploring the backyard with his foster brother. They chase and wrestle all over the yard. Inside he loves chew toys. Antlers and hard chew toys are his favorite. He is a very heavy chewer, so he should be monitored when he is chewing on toys. He can rip out a squeaker from a toy in record time. Joey would be happiest in a home where he has at least one playful fur partner in crime to wrestle with and chase. He also loves to play tug and loves to be drug or to drag someone else around the house. A home that is active and can give him lots of attention would be best suited for him.

Joey would do best in a single family home with a fenced yard. He loves the yard and playing in it. Rolling in the grass is one of his favorite things to do. Joey does bark when he hears outside noises, so an apartment with neighbors walking by the front door and hearing noises through the walls is not a good fit for him. He does not need to be in a home that has someone home all day, but he would benefit from an afternoon potty break.

Joey is such a sweet natured dog. He loves to give hugs and will greet you each day when you come home full of joy and excitement. There are not enough good things we can say about just how loving and sweet this boy is.
