Hello, World

My name is Opal, and like my name suggests, I am a very lucky find! Short Mugs received a call about me from a local shelter. I was in very bad shape and they jumped in immediately to see to it that I was scooped up.

Once to safety, my foster family made quick work of beginning to heal my physical boo-boos; my right eye was swollen, infected and sadly lost due to my previous neglect, I needed a spay and to heal my skin from lots of little cuts and allergies. It’s amazing how quickly I began to feel better with the proper TLC. I’m now back up to feeling 100% and can focus on more important stuff – like bed burrowing, yard patrolling and learning that there are some really nice people in this world. It’s going to be hard to leave my foster family, but I know Short Mugs will make sure I end up with some of my very own kind people so I never have to go through any unnecessary hard times again!

Here’s what my foster Mom says about me:

“Opal is as sweet as they come. She is the best dog I've ever cared for. Not one accident. Listens. Goes into her kennel or playpen when asked. Doesn't destroy anything. She's like a very clean and respectful house guest, and you love having her over! She’s come out of her shell and is now an active and happy member of our household, really taking a liking to greeting my husband each day when he comes home. She's mellow, happy, sleepy, submissive, loving, comforting and funny.”

<Blushes bashfully>  She left out the part about how we love to go on walks together! I love walks! I hope whoever my new friends are love to go on walks too when the weather is nice! I am quite the runner, so because of this, I’ll either need to be leash walked exclusively, or given a nice backyard with a secure fence where I can practice my zoomies off-leash without having to worry about accidentally getting lost again.

Are you interested in obtaining a precious gem like me? If so, have your people call my people.
