Mission Statement

Short Mugs Rescue Squad is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to the health and well-being of French Bulldogs. We are based out of Texas and run and managed solely by volunteers. Our main objective is to rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home French Bulldogs that come to us from many sources including local animal shelters, owner surrenders, strays, commercial breeding kennels, import brokers and private rescue groups.

We also rescue other brachycephalic breeds such as english bulldogs, boston terriers and pugs. Any mix breed dogs such as frenchbo (frenchie/boston), Frug (frenchie/pug), Chug (pug/chihuahua) will be evaluated on an individual basis. We will need photos sent to us from a variety of angles to be able to make our determination.

We are based out of the Houston area, but we rescue across the entire state of Texas along with Oklahoma and Louisiana. 

Foster Dogs:

Click the Available Dogs page to see our dogs that are ready for adotpion. The dogs on the Foster Dogs  page are not available for adoption, but are available for sponsorship as they are still in foster care. Our Hospice dogs are also available for sponsorship. 

Houston Strut Your Mutt

Our Strut your mutt Fundraising event registration begins today!!! All walkers who register during the May 1-19 time frame will automatically get $5 off their registration cost, and the Network partner Dog Pack that gets the most walkers re gistered by May 19 will be awarded $1000 from Best Friends to put towards their Strut Your Mutt fundraising goal! 

Currently we are only competing with 4 other teams! This gives us GREAT odds at winning the bonus $1000. All you need to do is register at www.strutyourmutt.org/team/SMRS under the SMRS team (Houston strut). It will be $25 and you even get a tshirt!
